A new comic event approaches for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as their worst enemy, Rita Repulsa, may finally defeat her longtime adversaries in Darkest Hour. BOOM! Studios' Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series thus far has been in the midst of the Reunited, Recharged arc where Rita Repulsa forms an unholy alliance with the likes of Dark Specter, Alpha-1, a mind-controlled Matt the Green Ranger, and her new sidekick Vessel . Together, their endgame is naturally to conquer the galaxy.

As Screen Rant can exclusively reveal, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #111 will mark the start of the Darkest Hour event. This event will last a staggering 12 months and will be helmed by writer Melissa Flores , artist Simona Di Gianfelice , colorist Raúl Angulo , and letterer Ed Dukeshire on the creative team.
The Rangers Reach Their Darkest Hour With this arc, it appears as if the former Rita Repulsa has finally won, gaining control of the Morphin Grid as Dark Specter's infections spread across the universe. While there are still quite a handful of issues to go until readers get the full context to understand how these events come to pass, this entire arc has been culminating in everything that the Reunited, Recharged era has been building towards.
Rita Finally Wins Longtime fans are all too familiar with the typical week-to-week television formula from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Rita Repulsa develops a plan, sends a monster down to Earth, the Rangers destroy it, and then lather, rinse, repeat for the next episode. This is not like the TV show. After revamping her entire identity, Rita has evolved into her strongest form yet, all while allying herself with some of the most powerful forces of evil that the galaxy can offer.
Now, she combats the Rangers with their biggest threat yet, one that will seem to affect the Rangers for the next year's worth of storylines. It's certainly the most ambitious Ranger storyline since arguably the Shattered Grid event. The day that Rita Repulsa beats the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers will be their Darkest Hour indeed.
