Public opinion on capitalism among Millennials and Gen Zers has dropped 15% since 2010, according to a Gallup poll.
: While public opinion on socialism has stayed stagnant over the last decade, according to a Gallup poll released Monday, attitudes toward capitalism have declined dramatically among 18-39 year olds, making socialism nearly as popular as capitalism.
Among Millennial and Gen Zers, positive views toward capitalism have dropped 15% since 2010, from 66% to 51%. Meanwhile, positive attitudes toward socialism among young adults ages 18-39 have remained largely the same since 2010, hovering around 50%. Among Gen Xers and Baby Boomers, though, capitalism has increased in popularity since 2010, from 58% to 61% for Gen Xers and from 58% to 68% for Baby Boomers.
While positive attitudes toward socialism increased among Gen Xers and Baby Boomers , it is still relatively unpopular compared to young adults. : As avowed Democratic socialist Bernie Sanders sustains strong support in the 2020 presidential race, much has been said about theof socialism in the U.S., or some form of it.
