Fireworks were hurled at police during a Halloween disturbance in London last night.
Police were called in to break up a large crowd in Stratford that had gathered outside the bus station.Footage and pictures posted to social media showed fireworks being set off outside close to bystanders.Police were seen separating groups of young people and preventing further violence inside the station itself.
The busy commuter terminal reportedly had to be evacuated and footage showed a cordon of police officers preventing some people from leaving or entering.Footage posted on Twitter showed a firework being set off in a large crowd Police officers were seen piling in to the melee and one arrest was made One witness two on Twitter: ‘I’m coming home from work after a long day, walk out the station to policeman asking me so many questions and the whole bus station being locked off because kids were shooting fireworks at people.’‘Many, many police and a search helicopter above. Looks fairly serious.’A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said last night: ‘At around 18:30hrs today we responded to reports of fireworks being thrown near to Stratford Bus Station.
‘No injuries were reported. A teenage girl was arrested after a firework was thrown towards officers. Police remain in the area.’
