After 20 years, the case of a husband and wife killed in a botched robbery attempt at their Northwest Side restaurant remains unsolved.
The Asia Garden, formerly on the city's Northwest Side off Bandera Road was the scene of a double homicide in 2001 that remains unsolved.
It was a normal Monday afternoon for the He family on April 23, 2001, as they worked in The Asian Garden. May Lin He, 33, was at the cash register in the family restaurant while her husband, 34-year-old Shao Xiong, was in the back preparing food. The couple’s 6-year-old daughter, Monica, was watching TV in the dining area after arriving from school.
Shao Xiong He and May He were fatally stabbed April 23, 2001, at their family-owned restaurant, The Asian Garden on Bandera Road. The couple’s then-6-year-old daughter had just arrived from school.The family had owned The Asian Garden, at 8015 Bandera Road, for almost three years. They were the only employees who worked at the two-room restaurant nestled in the middle of a strip center.Just after 4 p.m., a man walked up to the cash register where May Lin He was standing.
