Ontario's Police Watchdog Investigating Death of Man Following Interaction with Peterborough PoliceThe Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating the death of a 28-year-old man who died after an interaction with police in Peterborough. The incident began with a traffic stop, which led to a short pursuit that was later discontinued. The driver involved in the pursuit was later found to be the same person who fled the traffic stop. After entering a car dealership, the man had an interaction with an employee and consumed an unknown substance when officers arrived. Shortly after, the man lost vital signs and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

WestJet Plane Collides with Parked Military Plane at Comox Valley AirportA WestJet plane taxiing at Comox Valley Airport collided with a parked CC-130H Hercules military plane, causing minor damage. All passengers and crew were safely offloaded and no injuries were reported. The incident occurred when the WestJet plane abruptly halted, causing a tip of the wing to come off. One flight attendant fell towards a passenger but was caught by another attendant. The pilot apologized to passengers for the incident.

Heavy Rain Causes Flooding in OttawaA storm brought nearly 100 mm of rain to some parts of Ottawa, causing flooding in several areas of the city. Roads and the transit road network were flooded with up to three feet of water. The neighborhoods of Carleton Heights and the Riverside area received nearly 100 mm of rain. Environment Canada senior climatologist David Phillips described the rainfall as unprecedented, with more rain falling in an hour-and-a-half than the entire month of August.
