Police are investigating a shooting with 'injured victims' at Uvalde Memorial Park.
PUBLISHED 7:07 PM CDT Sep. 08, 2022UVALDE, Texas — The Uvalde Police Department is asking the public to stay away from Uvalde Memorial Park because of an ongoing shooting investigation.
Police said the incident was reported at 5:30 p.m. Police said people are injured, but didn’t specify how many. The Texas Department of Public Safety tweeted it's assisting the Uvalde Police Department and Sheriff’s Office. DPS suspects this is a gang-related incident. We are working with the Uvalde Police Department and Sheriff’s Office following a suspected gang related shooting at Memorial Park. This information is preliminary, as the situation develops we will work with local law enforcement to provide updates.The Uvalde community is still healing after the mass shooting at Robb Elementary. Almost four months ago, 19 children and two teachers were killed. The park is about a mile away from the school.
“I was outraged to learn that gang violence has endangered the Uvalde community and innocent Texans this evening. I immediately called Mayor McLaughlin and County Judge Mitchell to offer the state’s full support and resources as law enforcement hunts down the gang members.
