Man hospitalized after officer-involved shooting during stolen car investigation in South Salt Lake on Feb. 7, 2024. The suspect of an American Fork vehicle burglary has been identified and is expected to survive after he was shot when three officers fired their weapons at him Wednesday evening.
Officers said that they quickly determined that the vehicle was occupied by an individual believed to be the suspect, Kevin Ballew.ORIGINAL STORY:Around the time these additional units arrived, Ballew reportedly exited the vehicle and began to walk away. Ballew entered the apartment complex and was witnessed trying to conceal himself in different areas in the building and with various objects.
Life-saving care was provided on scene before medical crews arrived and transported Ballew to a nearby hospital where he is expected to make a full recovery.
