A passenger who fled the vehicle on foot after the crash is being sought by authorities.
Responding officers found a Nissan Maxima had crashed into the home. The driver, an Oakland resident, was removed from the vehicle and taken to a hospital.Police said that, based upon the roadway design and witness statements, it appeared the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on MacArthur Boulevard near 55th Avenue, a sharply curved intersection at the western edge of the Mills College campus.
The vehicle left the roadway and crashed into the home. The collision caused major damage to the structure of the residence, police said, but one inside the home was injured.The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact police traffic investigators at 510-777-8570.
