Live updates from a police cordon in Skelmersdale
A police cordon is in place this afternoon with a raft of emergency services on the scene.
Officers, paramedics and firefighters are in Skelmersdale to deal with the ongoing incident. Attention is focused around Half Mile Island and the woodland surrounding Half Mile Island fishing lake.LancsLive has contacted emergency services for more information on what exactly is going on. The incident appears to have been ongoing since at least 3pm. Firefighters can be seen wearing PPE masks and carrying bags of unknown goods.
