Police have said they remain ‘committed to providing answers’ to the family ofThe then-35-year-old was last seen on 18 March, 2009, and was reported missing after failing to turn up for her shift working as a chef at the University of York the next day.
“Claudia’s family, friends and the wider public can be assured that all new information is carefully, and thoroughly, assessed by the Cleveland and North Yorkshire Police Cold Case Review Unit. Police officers searching the land at Sand Hutton Gravel Pits near York in connection with the disappearance of missing Claudia Lawrence began searching Sand Hutton Gravel Pits in August 2021.
Mobile phone records show Ms Lawrence sent her last text message at 8.23pm and received one at 9.12pm. When her father Peter Lawrence entered her home he found the bed made and the only items missing were her phone and rucksack she used to carry her chef whites suggesting she had left for her shift as normal.
Over the years there has been much speculation about Ms Lawrence’s ‘secret’ private life after the original senior investigating officer Detective Superintendent Ray Galloway said she had been involved in relationships with “an element of complexity and mystery to them.”
