The Highlanders are overflowing with senior leadership and big-game experience.
“They were player-led tonight,” coach Frankie Whitlock said. “It’s a special, special group of seniors. Our captains stepped up. They were coaching each other on the field. “Two years ago, when we went , it was one of the best experiences we’ve had,” Kauppinen said. “We wanted to do it again.”Kauppinen struck on a free kick from about 35 yards out in the sixth minute. The Highlanders carried that 1-0 advantage into the 41st minute, when Kauppinen found the back of the net again, this time on a shot from the left side.
