NWAS were also able to help the lady after she fell

Officers from Preston North End police were on hand to assist an elderly woman after she fell and became trapped behind a door during a shortage of ambulance workers.

People were told to if they are in need of assistance and "it is not life-threatening you may have to wait longer than usual for an ambulance." One elderly woman found herself in dangerous position after falling and becoming trapped behind a door.Despite the strain on resources today, emergency crews from NWAS were able to eventually get to the lady. However, whilst she was forced to wait, PNE police teams stepped in to "hold down the fort".

Today, dozens of NHS were out on picket lines to strike for better pay and working conditions. NWAS employees belonging to three unions - the GMB, Unite and Unison - are involved, which collectively represent around 25,000 ambulance service workers across the country.
