Pilk is nothing new (and it’s really good).
, essentially a carbonated version of chocolate milk, have long been an iconic New York City beverage.
Now that Pilk has become a main character on the internet, the only way to get a true sense of its personality, I thought, was to whip up a batch for some BA staffers. But when I set out to pour a glass of Pilk, I was immediately plagued by questions: What was the proper pilatio of Pepsi to milk? Would drinking whole milk for the first time in years make me feel pauseous ? I decided on a spoonful of milk for 3 oz. of Pepsi, and poured out four portions .
In short, the haters were wrong. Pilk is incredible. It brought a creaminess to the sugary cola, and tasted almost like cream soda. Staff writer Ali Francis preferred it to Pepsi on its own, and noted that the milk “softened the bubble, but didn’t make it flat.” Editorial director Serena Dai thought the drink would be improved with a shot of liquor, which could cut the sweetness even further.
