The City of Pickering says it’s out more than $360,000 after working on the Greenbelt land swap that is now being reversed.Grimbsy is also in the same boat. That municipality is asking the provincial government to foot the bill for about $82,000 spent following the decision.

Pickering Mayor Kevin Ashe sent a letter to Paul Calandra, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. In the letter, Ashe said the city is happy that the province reconsidered the land swap, but they already put a significant amount of resources in the project.
