Happiness was in the air at Golden Gate Park.
, founded in 2001, is a free three-day festival at Golden Gate Park that's funded by a foundation set up by the late investment banker Warren Hellman. As the name implies, the event is fairly genre agnostic, although performers typically skew more toward the roots and Americana side of the musical spectrum. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 and 2021 editions of the fest were canceled, replaced by streaming concerts . Music begins at 11 a.m.

There's security of course, but attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and make a picnic. It's essentially the ultimate day out in the park, with a soundtrack of dozens of nationally recognized bands .

Although performers such as Allison Russell drew crowds in the thousands, the grounds of Golden Gate Park still felt spacious, and lines for bathrooms and food were graciously short.
