PH5's fall 2022 collection is in. View every look:
Flipping through the PH5 lookbook, I was waiting for the brand’s signature silhouette to pop up: a wavy-hemmed, asymmetrical, densely knit skirt in a zingy color. There’s nothing wrong with a calling card, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that theirs didn’t appear until Look 7. Even then, it wasn’t what I was expecting . For fall 2022, designers Zoe Champion and Wei Lin showed how many different textures they could create with knits.
PH5 sits at the intersection of fashion and engineering, as each of their pieces is coded in a computer before being made by a machine. Sometimes that process is represented in a super-high-tech way but this season, merging cable knits with their sculptural hemlines posed the biggest challenge. “We wanted to play with knitwear as people expect to see it,” Champion said.
It paid off; the resulting texture in skirts and camisoles is lovely. In addition to buoyant midi-dresses, they expanded their athleisure offerings with a catsuit , leggings, and quarter zips. Ombré pants and matching tops make for a modern office-ready set. The look book’s theme, Stay On Earth is a bit out there, but the clothes are largely, well, down to earth. Champion and Lin convincingly evolved their brand without compromising their playful, techy aesthetic.
