Jason Lewis’s 2,500 square-foot showroom includes a mix of both his personal works and Offcut designs, which are a bit more eclectic.If you’ve ever dabbled in woodworking, you probably have a sense of just how much scrap material can go to waste. Lumber is sold in predetermined sizes, like the ubiquitous 2×4, so once you have the cuts you need, you’re likely to end up with various odds and ends that are hard to put to use.
“From the beginning, the idea was we do a product a week,” Lewis says. Once an object is completed, it gets photographed, uploaded to Offcut’s“Basically it’s coming in on Monday, looking at the scrap that’s been produced through the custom commissions that the shop is doing, and then the two of us brainstorming, like okay, what could this material be?” Jackson says.
