These are Pennsylvania's top slang words, according to findings in a recent study.
conducted and published a study which identified the most popular slang words in each state.
This was done by turning to that bastion of slang — Twitter — and assessing over 18 million geotagged tweets in order to separate them by region to see which slang terms popped up the most where. Words were also divided into five main categories: “Girlfriend/Boyfriend,” “Gaming,” “Crypto,” “Gen-Z,” and “Hip-Hop.”
Pennsylvania’s top slang terms were thus found to be the following, as corresponding with the aforementioned categories: “Cutie,” “NFT,” “Poggers,” Cringe,” and “Deuce.” While many of you may be familiar with “cutie” — having potentially called someone that yourself — as well as the now oft-reported-on NFT world, you may not be as knowledge in what the other three words mean., the term “poggers” stems from a gamer emoji of the Pepe the Frog character making a surprised expression many compared to popular Twitch streamer, Ryan “Gootecks” Gutierrez. To be “poggers” over something usually means to be excited.
Then there’s “cringe,” a phenomenon of being so embarrassed by something — typically in the form of someone’s failed social media video — that one feels as if they’re physically cringing over it., is simply an alternate way of saying goodbye, possibly stemming from the act of lifting two fingers up in a peace sign as you “peace out.”If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation.
