The “You” actor explained his decision on his podcast:
his hit Netflix show just premiered on Thursday. We know everyone’s tuned in, but that’s not exactly what the Internet is talking about.. In the latest episode, the actor and his two co-hosts, Nava Kavelin and Sophie Ansari talk about the new season, and that’s where the quote you’re seeing everywhere comes from.
“Fidelity in every relationship, and especially my marriage, is really important to me. It just got to a point where I don’t want to do that,” he said. “Before I took the show, it was a question: Do I have a career if I don’t? Think about every male lead you’ve loved. Are they kissing someone? Are they doing a lot more than that?”
Penn, who has been married to singer Dominc Kirke since 2017, told his co-hosts that ahead of Season 4, he spoke to the show’s creator Sera Gamble about his feelings regarding the intimacy scenes was met with support: Gamble “was really glad that I was that honest and had a really positive response,” he said.
