House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Democrats will fight President Donald Trump in Congress, the courts, and the court of public opinion over his national emergency for the border wall.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a California Democrat, threatened President Donald Trump with a bitter fight over his national emergency declaration to secure funding for the border wall.
Trump declared a national emergency because of what he calls a “crisis” at the southern border with Mexico, involving undocumented migration and crime, such as drug gangs and human trafficking. And many Republicans in Congress are uneasy about Trump using a national emergency to get his wall money, fearing it sets a precedent that will later be used by Democrats.
However, he believes the Senate, which has a GOP majority, will vote to pass a resolution of disapproval against the national emergency sent from the House because there are Republicans who oppose the president’s action and are willing to take action of their own.
