Peak now covers much of non-mountainous New England, New York and Pennsylvania as well as the zone from Michigan to Nebraska.

Beautiful fall foliage continues expanding south across the Lower 48. The progression, however, has slowed because of abnormally warm air over the eastern two-thirds of the country. Next week, a flip to much chillier weather should facilitate more rapid change.
The leaves are now turning in many of the big cities in the Northeast and Midwest and some color is even creeping into lower elevations of the Mid-Atlantic and the South. But — across the most of the high elevations across the Lower 48 — peak color has come and gone.Much of Southern New England outside of the mountains is still near peak while the colors have begun to fade in the Berkshires, Worcester Hills and Litchfield Hills of Connecticut.
While the Upper Peninsula is well past peak, much of lower Michigan is in high color to near peak, with the best conditions generally near and north of Lansing.Where peak is right around the corner Southward, a majority of New Jersey should soon peak, along with southeast Pennsylvania and areas west of Interstate 95 from Philadelphia to Washington.
