George is making progress toward a return and Lue isn’t ruling out a return for Kawhi Leonard and/or Norman Powell.
PLAYA VISTA — NBA teams, they’re just like you.“Hell yeah, I keep it open!” Clippers coach Tyronn Lue said in regard to that proverbial door, which remains ajar in case Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and/or Norman Powell are healthy enough to walk through it.
Leonard has missed the entire season recovering from July 13 surgery on a torn right anterior cruciate ligament, an injury the two-time NBA Finals MVP sustained during the second round of last year’s Western Conference playoffs. And Powell played just three games after being traded to the Clippers because of a fractured medial sesamoid bone in his left foot, which has kept him out of action since Feb. 12. Powell got out of a walking boot last week and was scheduled to “do some shooting” Monday, though he wasn’t yet cleared for contact, Lue said.
