A program is providing NIL information to Alabama high schools
“What their company will do is offer each school – if they want it – to be able to obtain information on what is going on with NIL to keep the parents informed,” Wood said. “We are definitely not in support of NIL on the high school level in any fashion, either me personally or the organization. But we do want to provide coaches a source of information for them and their players and their families about NIL because it is constantly changing.
“The ALFCA is proud to partner with Eccker Sports to help coaches have a trustworthy source of information to navigate the new world that NIL presents,” Wood said in a release. “NIL is ever changing, and I know Eccker Sports will have the latest information that effects our game.” . High school athletic associations in Alaska, California, Utah, Kansas, Nebraska, New York and New Jersey also currently permit student-athletes to benefit from their name, image and likeness.
“We already have an amateur rule in place,” Mask said. “I would hope we would continue that. With all the other negative things now with kids transferring and everything else, I would hate to see it happen. It’s very bad for high schools. Those kids need to be worried about going to prom and field day at school and those things rather than putting themselves out there to make money.”
