Cedar Grove’s Stephen Paradiso throws the ball during a Battle at the Beach football game against Salem at Ocean City High School, Friday, Aug. 26, 2022.Stephen Paradiso threw two touchdown passes and ran for two scores as Cedar Grove erupted for 34 unanswered points to pull away and defeat Ramsey, 34-7, in the Jim Grasso Kickoff Classic at Westwood High School in Washington.
With Cedar Grove trailing 7-0, Paradiso, a junior, evened the score when he connected with Nick Russo for a 27-yard TD pass with 4:34 left in the second quarter. Sebastian Kovacs gave Cedar Grove the lead when he booted a 40-yard field goal on the final play of the first half. After the intermission, Paradiso hit Nick Iannacone for a 15-yard TD pass. Then, after Kovacs’ second field goal of the day, Paradiso capped off the scoring with a 13-yard TD run with 9:45 remaining in the game.
