I am always hesitant to bet full-game spreads in the preseason because the fourth quarter can get wildly unpredictable. However, the Giants' reserves will certainly have an advantage on defense.
New York did give up 18 second-half points last week, but the G-Men only allowed two drives to go longer than seven yards. The issue was that they gave up a punt return touchdown early in the third quarter, which also led to a two-point conversion. Meanwhile, the Panthers allowed two fourth-quarter touchdowns, despite already trailing 13-0.
This total is a little high for my liking at 39.5 points, considering the fact that the Panthers were just shut out and the Giants only allowed 13 points on defense. If I was going to play the O/U in this game, I would lean towards the first half Under. Both defenses will start out strong and it will likely take some time for the reserves on offense to find their momentum in the second half.
