PCBPD and PCBFD to get new drones
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - Panama City Beach Fire and Police Departments will soon have more eyes in the sky to keep people safe. The two departments will be adding three new drones .
They can be used for a variety of reasons from locating a fire to finding missing people. These drones cost 75 thousand dollars. Fire officials say drones are a great tool that will be especially useful during the spring and summer when thousands of people are on our beaches and when fire activity is heavy. These drones will have a long battery life and can fly over the beach in most weather.
“There’s just a lot of avenues where it just enhances the ability and speeds up the rescue or response,” said Ray Morgan, Chief of Panama City Beach Fire Department. “Help us to more readily assess that situation so we can attack it smarter and more efficiently.” With the beach city council approving the purchase of these drones, they should be in use in about a month.Daring fire rescue earns Enterprise man Carnegie Medal for Heroism
