Palomo Spain’s return to NewYorkFashionWeek feels like a vote of confidence for the city.

Today marks the 2,199th day since Palomo first showed here, on February 2, 2017. That was “just nine months after I started the brand, right at the age of 24, which, now that I think about it, was insane,” he recounts with a laugh. “New York has really been key in the development of the brand.” This is Palomo Spain’s third time on the schedule, the spring 2019 1916 collection, inspired by the Ballet Russe, was also presented in Manhattan.
“I remember coming here for the first time to do the show; we saw like 50 models. We fitted them in little feather dresses and all that. We were so happy to have had the pictures taken and put on the wall, and then at 11 at night, all the agents were calling, saying, ‘These models are not doing your show. They didn’t feel comfortable in the clothes. They didn’t feel comfortable wearing heels; we don’t want these models to look this way, blah, blah, blah.
