Officials with the Lawrence Township Police Department reported that they were called on Friday to an apartment in Hyde, Clearfield County, to help the SPCA in contacting a couple -- Ana Houston and Thomas Rowles -- about an issue with cats in their home.While speaking with Houston and Rowles, police learned there were another 26 cats living inside the apartment, the news outlet said.
Police said the pair never attempted to contact a veterinarian to treat the cats, and that Animal Matters of Clearfield County had previously removed 28 cats from the apartment. Houston and Rowles have been charged with 36 felony accounts of aggravated cruelty to animals, 36 misdemeanor counts of neglect of animals, and 62 misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals.If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation.
