Padres looking for first sweep of the season on Wednesday against Miami Marlins
The Padres are going well again heading into Wednesday’s series finale against the Marlins . A win would secure their first sweep of the season, match a season-high four game winning streak and send the team to a season-best three games over .500. Manny Machado, however, is not going as well as his seven-game hitting streak might suggest. Yes, the 31-year-old veteran is hitting .320/.393/.
Machado is also striking out more often than ever as that rate sites at 22.4 percent, although that number has been more than halved to 10.7 percent during this seven-game hitting streak. Machado will play third base on Wednesday and bat fourth in a third straight game as has been the case of late against left-handed pitching. Donovan Solano will serve as the designated hitter and catcher Luis Campusano and center fielder Jackson Merrill are back in the lineup.
