Manny Machado missed two games with tennis elbow; Wil Myers dealing with right knee inflammation
Myers underwent an MRI on Sunday, revealing inflammation in his right knee. He said Sunday he was available off the bench and was expecting to be available Monday.
“It’s a day-to-day thing,” Myers said Sunday. “I got some imaging done to clarify what it was. It’s nothing that’s structurally damaged, nothing that can hurt it structurally, just some stuff going on, but I should be good to go .”Myers is hitting .242/.285/.317 with just one homer and 19 RBIs. Without him in the lineup, Jose Azocar gets the start in right field and in the nine-hole.
Catcher Austin Nola is also back in the lineup, in the seven-hole, after giving way to Jorge Alfaro for two of the three games against the Pirates., have not posted their lineup yet.He pitched one game in relief before returning to the rotation on May 23 to throw five innings of two-run ball in a no-decision against the Brewers. Martinez has thrown more than five innings in just one of his seven starts.The Cardinals claimed the 26-year-old off waivers from the Angels in spring training.
