Giants starter Jordan Hicks beat the Padres last weekend at Petco Park
The minor league season is in full swing today, but two of the Padres’ top prospects are in the lineup in San Francisco as Bay Area native Bob Melvin returns to his Giants against the team he walked away from over the offseason. Jackson Merrill will bat ninth and play center field as he has so far against right-handed pitching.
Catcher Luis Campusano is back in the lineup, in the seven-hole, after a day off on Wednesday. Campisano is hitting .400/.400/1.000, leads the team with 12 hits and is tied for the team lead with three doubles. The top-six spots in the lineup have remained unchanged all season. The Giants have lost their last four games — the finale in San Diego on Sunday and all three games they played in Los Angeles against the Dodgers.
