Blake Snell on mound against White Sox as Padres look to secure first full-season postseason berth since 2006
The 35-year-old veteran did not debut until mid-June because of a torn tendon in his right knee. He has a 2.29 ERA over his last nine starts after opening the season with a 5.88 ERA in his first 11 starts. Lynn is 3-3 with a 2.94 ERA, 37 strikeouts and a 1.31 WHIP in eight career starts against the Padres, the last coming in 2020 .
He’s coming off five innings of one-hit ball in a no-decision against the Dodgers, although Snell threw 96 pitches in that start. Snell has a 26-to-5 strikeout-to-walk ratio over his last three starts . He is 4-0 with a 0.86 ERA, 39 strikeouts and a 0.99 WHIP in six career starts against Chicago , but he has not faced the White Sox since 2019 .
