Quad injury sends David Dahl to injured list as Padres recall Brandon Dixon before series finale vs. Atlanta Braves; Seth Lugo will start against Dylan Dodd
Dixon homered twice on Friday and was hitting .300/.464/.600 through his first six games with the Chihuahuas.
Last year, Dixon opted against what might have been career-ending elbow surgery and went on to hit .373/.442/.823 with 23 homers in 51 games as he progressed to El Paso. Dixon hit just .191/.322/.234 with no homers this spring as the left-handed-hitting Dahl won a bench job over him. Dahl, however, strained his right squad while doing sprints in the outfield and on Sunday officially hit the injured list.
Dahl was 1-for-9 with two strikeouts through his first four appearances, including the walk-off homer on Monday.He’ll bat ninth as the Padres look to win their first series of the season. They’ve won the middle two games in this four-game series in Atlanta.
