Visitors win 6-3 in Langley

Round 2 of the ferry derby went Friday night as Pacific FC crossed the strait for the first time to play Canadian Premier League expansion-franchise Vancouver FC in Langley.

PFC’s offence exploded to record a 6-3 scorefest victory as the Tridents added to their 1-0 win in the first meeting between the B.C. clubs in the season opener at Starlight Stadium in Langford. An eventful first half Friday ended 2-2 as defender Amer Didic scored for PFC after just three minutes followed by a tying goal by Kwak Min-jae four minutes later. The Tridents retook the lead at 24 minutes through forward Josh Heard only to have VFC again level as Taryck Tahid counted in injury time before the break.

Goals two minutes apart in the wild second half, at 66 and 68 minutes by forwards Ayman Sellouf and Easton Ongaro, blew the doors off the stadium at Willoughby Park. Manny Aparicio added a goal for the Tridents from the penalty spot at 80 minutes and former Vancouver Whitecaps MLS player Kekuta Manneh at 90 minutes plus one in injury time. Shaan Hundal scored the other VFC goal on a penalty at 87 minutes.Pacific FC travels to Hamilton, Ont.
