Cal’s decision to hire Mark Madsen leaves the Pac-12 with an all-white lineup of men’s basketball coaches for yet another season.

Assessing the top developments stories of the week …The lone basketball coaching vacancy in the conference was filled Wednesday when Cal announced the appointment of Mark Madsen, the former Stanford star who produced an impressive run at Utah Valley University.

Not since Cal promoted Wyking Jones in the spring of 2017 has a Black coach been appointed to run a program., when Cuonzo Martin arrived in Berkeley and Ernie Kent took charge at Washington State. The article added: “Perhaps most startlingly, the Pac-12 Conference has zero Black men’s basketball head coaches.”

Speaking of Sanders: His appointment in Boulder continues to generate unprecedented interest in Colorado football. Big man Mouhamed Gueye is entering the NBA Draft, as is wing guard Justin Powell. Meanwhile, point guard TJ Bamba is both entering the draft and the transfer portal.
