Pa. woman pleads guilty to new fraud charges after faking her own adbuction over a decade ago
The Philadelphia InquirerSweeten, who is white, told a 9-1-1 dispatcher that she with her 9-year-old daughter had been carjacked in 2009. She told the dispatcher she had been kidnapped by two Black men from Bucks County. She claimed to be calling from the kidnappers’ Cadillac.
Sweeten pleaded guilty to the racially charged hoax, garnering national attention. The judge had called her a “calculating, manipulative, cold-blooded woman.”
