Police said the retired Easton officer broke a woman's nose while at his house.

A former Easton police officer who works for the Lehigh University police force is facing charges of assaulting a woman.

The 53-year-old Bruneo is free on $20,000 unsecured bail. An attorney has not yet entered an appearance in the case, and efforts to reach Bruneo on Monday were not successful. Bethlehem Township police said they responded Thursday afternoon to Bruneo’s home after a woman called 911 to say he threw something at her and injured her nose, police said.

Bruneo and the victim told police he threw a tube of lotion at the woman, hitting her on the nose and injuring her.
