“In other conferences, there are teams that can’t beat certain levels of teams and teams that go undefeated against other teams, but that is not what happens in our conference. The parity is like no other,” said UPEI Panthers head coach Forbie MacPherson.
Panthers head coach Forbie MacPherson credits the calibre of play in the AUS to strong recruiting and hard work by each team. MacPherson added it seems every team recruits high-level players from across Canada every year.
“The best teams are the best teams, but when you look at our conference, take us for example – we beat and lost to every single team in our conference,” said MacPherson. “That’s fair to say for most teams in our conference this year. You can’t say that for any other conference. “They always say it’s the best-kept secret in hockey,” said MacPherson. “We kind of say that sticking our chest out saying how good the level of hockey is, but I think it’s time we switch that and find a way to get people out to the rinks to watch the games.”
“I was reading tweets about on Twitter about how it is one of the most underrated leagues and under-watched leagues in hockey,” said Lajeunesse. “I think it’s true.
