Two increases coming next year

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — This time next year, Prince Edward Island's minimum wage workers will be earning an extra dollar per hour.

On the heels of a 50-cent jump this Oct. 1, bringing the hourly wage to $15, the province is committing to two increases in 2024 — a 40-cent adjustment on April 1 and a 60-cent bump on Oct. 1 to hit $16. Minimum wage will increase twice next year on PEI, to $15.40 per hour on April 1, 2024, and to $16 per hour on October 1, 2024.Before an 80-cent boost in January this year, P.E.I. had among the lowest minimum wages in Canada at just $13.70, higher than only Saskatchewan at $13 flat.
