This is what minority rule looks like.
Half a century ago a much less politicized court ruled that the right of a woman to make her own decisions about her reproductive and sexual health was guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. Since then, Roe has been the law of the land but if the draft decision proves to be true, that constitutional right will no longer be guaranteed.
Rich women will always have access to abortion. Traveling one or more states to obtain safe, legal medical care is not a heavy burden for anyone with the means to do so. For someone without the means to do so, it’s a crushing burden that leads to one of a few predictable outcomes, keeping an unwanted pregnancy or finding another means to terminate it. Outlawing abortion doesn’t end abortions, it ends safe abortions.
