Officials say the 14-hour barricade situation lasted into Sunday morning.
An overnight standoff ended with two officers and a suspect who was barricaded in a Philadelphia home getting shot., officers were dispatched to a home located at the 400 block of West Bringhurst Street in Germantown around 4 p.m. Saturday after a report of a man with a gun.
When police were given access to enter the property by a relative, an armed man opened fire on them, according to First Deputy Commissioner John Stanford. Crews say the barricade situation lasted overnight into Sunday, totaling to 14 hours. Stanford said SWAT negotiators tried to talk with the man to de-escalate the situation, but at some point they lost communication with him.Concerned about the man’s safety, police went inside his home Sunday morning and found him on the third floor when he opened fire, he said.
Stanford confirmed two officers were hit but “luckily in their vest area and so they were saved by their vest.” They returned fire, striking the man who was transported to the hospital, he said. Police say the two wounded officers were treated at Temple University Hospital and later released.READ MORE:
