Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued a statement at 8:46 a.m. commending officers who \u0022put themselves in harm\u0027s way to keep people safe.\u0022
“We’re all devastated,” said Edmonton Mayor, Amarjeet Sohi expressing his sadness at hearing the news when speaking at a Thursday morning news conference with EPS.Sohi urged Edmontontonians to thank a police officer if they see one in the coming days.
Notley said the Alberta NDP stands with the members of the Edmonton Police Service and all those Albertans who serve their communities on police forces across the province. In a statement at 10:51 a.m. Erick Ambtman, chairman of the Edmonton Police Commission, expressed his condolences to the entire Edmonton Police Service for the “senseless and truly tragic loss of Constables Travis Jordan and Brett Ryan.”
“Constables Jordan and Ryan will be forever remembered for their courage, bravery, compassion and service while working to keep Edmonton’s streets safe.”
