'Our family has always put the horses first': Jason Glass carries on chuckwagon racing legacy yyc Stampede
“The other main memory that I have is my grandma Iris Glass. She was around here for a long, long time and everybody loved her. She loved the horses more than anybody in the world.”
“It’s the big show, the Calgary Stampede, so that’s when you actually get to perform,” said Jason, who has great memories of watching and learning from his dad Tom and uncle Richard Cosgrave, among others, while growing up around the sport he loves. “It’s a huge honour to be at the Calgary Stampede and I hope I’ve got a few more years left in me.”Article content
Although Kelly Sutherland went on to win that 1997 title, it’s still a source of pride for Tom that he raced alongside his son, as is the fact that he served as an outrider for his dad Ronnie — although he had to gain experience with another driver beforehand. Now Tom Glass, who was named in honour of his grandpa, has enjoyed seeing his grandson Bodie and granddaughter Steele getting involved around the barns with their dad Jason and mom Brienne.
