Numbers are down sharply from last year’s banner year for construction, which set an all-time record

Sault Ste. Marie's biggest building permit issued in September was a $3.2-million interior office renovation planned by Tulloch Engineering at 71 Black Rd.

It maintains a strong presence in northern Ontario with offices in Sault Ste. Marie, Thessalon, Elliot Lake, Espanola, Sudbury and Thunder Bay. Year-to-date, the Sault has had 940 building permits valued at $130.9 million, compared to 1,009 permits worth $243.9 million at this time last year.
