No Artem Zub.While the Montreal Canadiens brought guys like Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Kirby Dach, Mike Matheson and Sean Monahan to Ottawa, the Senators decided to rest several of their key players in their final National Hockey League pre-season game Saturday night at Canadian Tire Centre.
Among the Senators playing Saturday: Josh Bailey , wingers Vladimir Tarasenko, Zack MacEwen and Dominik Kubalik and defencemen Travis Hamonic and Erik Brannstrom. Mads Sogaard was the starting goalie.Dillon Heatherington, Jacob Larsson, Nikolas Matinpalo, Tarun Fizer, Zack Ostapchuk and Egor Sokolov, who were called up from Belleville of the American Hockey League.
“Roby continues to score,” said Smith. “He’s really taken a step. He’s shown he can make plays, he’s shown he can score at this level.” Soon enough, he’ll know if he’s going to start the season in Ottawa, or move on down the road to Belleville.
