Run Day in Ottawa
Thousands upon thousand of runners of all shapes and sizes enjoyed the warm weather to take part in the Canada Army Run, which supports the Support Our Troops and Soldier On funds.It was a delightful day for exercise, with the temperature hanging around 22 C, with mild breezes and occasional clouds.
Meanwhile, dedicated runners showed up for another major run Sunday, the annual Terry Fox run, which raised about $157,000 in donations. There were other Terry Fox runs in Orléans, Kanata and Manotick/Greely. The events combined for donations reaching more than $50,000.Runners laced up Sunday morning for the Canada Army Run, which included multiple distances ranging from 5K to a half marathon and multi-race challenges.The event brought in more than ten thousand runners — including four-legged participants — to the streets of Ottawa and almost three thousand have registered to run the event virtually.
