Everyone involved escaped with only minor injuries. The man has been charged with attempted murder, while a woman in her mid-20s has also been arrested and charged with possession of weapons.

According to eye-witness reports, the perpetrator hurried away from the car carrying a large, blue Ikea bag. Then, the man pointed a shotgun at police and drove off in the ambulance. Police immediately pursued the stolen vehicle noting there were two people in the car, a man and a woman. According to both eye-witness reports and a police statement, the male driver appeared to deliberately drive up on to the sidewalk several times. An elderly couple managed to escape the ambulance’s path and were taken to hospital, while a women with a stroller with twins of just seven months sustained minor injuries.

Police aimed shots at the ambulance to stop it, an action a spokesperson described as “demanding.” The male driver–who was in possession of significant quantities of drugs, a shotgun and a semi-automatic weapon–was arrested shortly afterwards without being hit. The woman, who fled from the scene, was known to the police. She was described as having fair skin, brown hair, wearing a black jacket and appeared to be intoxicated.

Police have said there is no indication at this time that the incident is terror-related. However, the two suspects are known to have links to right-wing organizations.reported that the man has ties to the Nazi organization The Nordic Resistance Movement. While not a member, he had previously been active in distributing propaganda on behalf of the group. Police are actively investigating the incident and the two suspects’ links further.
