An Oshawa resident is facing impaired driving charges after allegedly being caught speeding in Peterborough County, and then trying to run away.
OPP pulled over a vehicle around 11:30 p.m. Saturday on Highway 7. They say it was moving at a high rate of speed. They say the driver, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, tried running away on foot. He was later found by a K9 unit. Christopher Ballantyne, 26, of Oshawa, has been charged with operation while impaired , operation with a blood alcohol concentration over 80, obstructing a peace officer, speeding one to 49 km/h over the posted limit, failing to surrender a licence, failing to surrender a motor vehicle permit and failing to surrender an insurance card.
