Oscar Health CEO Mario Schlosser shares how the health-insurance upstart plans to finally turn a profit after years of losses
Sticking with a volatile insurance marketplaceBy focusing on selling ACA plans, also known as Obamacare plans, Oscar was"a startup within a startup," Schlosser said.
That marketplace has now stabilized, and Schlosser said Oscar's decision to stick it out has given the company valuable insights.The early years for Oscar were rough. "We were like, why? We're cool, we're a startup," he said."I remember how upset I felt about that, like: 'That's not true! We're going to be way better, and we're so much smarter than the other guys.'"
