On Friday, they hosted a vibrant Mother's Day event off South Flores Street, the organization aimed to honor the vital role of mothers within their programs. With approximately 66,000 individuals residing in public housing across San Antonio, officials highlight that 44% of these households are headed by single mothers. Recognizing the significant responsibilities shouldered by these mothers, the event sought to make them feel appreciated and cherished.
Muriel Rhoder, Chief Administrative Officer, expressed the sentiment behind the celebration, stating, "We want to celebrate our moms. Moms are our first influencers, they're our support systems, the person we go to on a day-to-day basis." The festivities included a diverse array of activities aimed at pampering and celebrating the mothers in attendance.
